51CrV4 is a spring steel with Werkstoffnummer 1.8159 to EN 10089. Chromium and vanadium give hardenability and temper resistance for springs. The older DIN designation 50CrV4 points to the same W.Nr. – it is not a separate grade in this database. It is not an ordinary QT shaft steel. INDUSTRISTÅL supplies bar, cuts to length and ships with 3.1. For shafts without spring requirements, 42CrMo4 is the usual switch.
