34CrMo4 / 1.7220 quenched and tempered steel
34CrMo4 is an alloy quenched and tempered steel with Werkstoffnummer 1.7220 to EN 10083-3. The carbon content lies between 25CrMo4 and 42CrMo4. Chromium and molybdenum give hardenability in moderate cross-sections. AISI 4135 is in the same neighbourhood – the certificate carries the EN name. INDUSTRISTÅL supplies bar, cuts to length and ships with 3.1. The S variant 34CrMoS4 (1.7226) is available when machining is specified.

Heat treatment
Hardened and tempered. +QT is the usual bar condition.
Machinability and weldability
Welding with preheating. Not S355.
Sawing and machining
Cutting to length. Heat treatment by agreement if the bar is not already +QT.
