Structural steel
C60 / 1.0601 carbon steel
C60 is an unalloyed carbon steel with Werkstoffnummer 1.0601. The EN designation is often C60E. Higher carbon than C45 gives more wear resistance and less toughness. Through-hardening is still limited. It is not a welding steel. INDUSTRISTÅL supplies bar, cuts to length and ships with 3.1. When the cross-section calls for alloying, the switch is 42CrMo4 or 50CrMo4.
Typical applications
- Wear parts
- Smaller shafts with hardening requirements
Delivery conditions
- C60 / C60E to drawing
Designations
- W.Nr.
- 1.0601
- EN standard
- C60E
- DIN
- Ck60
- Group
- Non-alloy structural steel
Heat treatment
Hardened in small cross-sections. Not a QT shaft steel in coarse Ø.
Machinability and weldability
Welding: no – not a welding steel.
Sawing and machining
Cutting to length. Confirm the E variant if P/S is specified.
Certificates and documentation
EN 10204/3.1 as standard.
Dimension programme
| Form | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Round bar | Ø20–200 mm | Hardening in the smaller section. Above that, another grade. |
| Flat bar | Cut to order | State cross-section. |
| Square bar | Cut to order | State side length. |
The range is a delivery programme, not a stock statement. Length is cut to your drawing.
Frequently asked questions
- What is C60?
- C60 / 1.0601 is an unalloyed carbon steel with higher carbon than C45. More wear resistance, less toughness.
- Is C60 the same as C45?
- No. Same family, different carbon. C45 when toughness weighs more.
- Can you supply C60 round bar?
- Yes. State Ø, length and whether the certificate should say C60 or C60E.
