1.4462 / Duplex 2205 stainless steel
1.4462 is a duplex stainless steel. The trade name 2205 and the EN designation X2CrNiMoN22-5-3 point to the same W.Nr. The ferritic-austenitic structure gives higher strength and better chloride resistance than 304 and 316L. INDUSTRISTÅL supplies bar, plate and tube, saws or cuts to size and ships with 3.1. 316L when molybdenum in austenite is enough. Super duplex 2507 when chloride and strength have to go further up – ask before it is specified.

Machinability and weldability
Duplex is welded with a procedure. It is not 304 workshop welding as a matter of course.

Sawing of bar, cutting of plate to size, tube to dimension. State the form – not just the W.Nr.
Certificates and documentation
EN 10204 3.1 as standard. PREN and ferrite content only when the certificate actually contains them.
