Pressure vessel steel
P355GH / 1.0473 pressure vessel steel
P355GH is a non-alloy pressure vessel steel with Werkstoffnummer 1.0473 to EN 10028-2. GH marks suitability for elevated temperature. The yield strength is above P265GH in the same family. It is not S355, and it is not P355NH – NH is a different standard and condition. INDUSTRISTÅL supplies plate, cuts to size and ships with 3.1. The same grade is cut for the InduSeal plate when a district heating seam has to be sealed.

Typical range according to EN 10028-2 (ladle analysis)
| Element | Range |
|---|---|
| C | max. 0.22 % |
| Si | max. 0.40 % |
| Mn | 1.10–1.70 % |

Chromium, copper, molybdenum and nickel are limited as residuals. Not P355NH – that is a different standard.
Machinability and weldability
Yes, as pressure vessel steel. Procedure and the PED route are governed by the plant.
Sawing and machining
Cutting of plate to size. State thickness, format and certificate – not a page per 20 mm.
Certificates and documentation
EN 10204 3.1 as standard. PED and 3.2 by arrangement.
Dimension programme
| Form | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Round bar | Bar to order | When the form is bar, not plate. |
| Plate | 8–80 mm thickness | Higher yield than P265GH. The same plate is used on InduSeal. |
| Fittings | Ø12–Ø2000 mm | ASME 1/2–60″ (Ø15–Ø1524 mm). Type A and B. Not a stock statement. |
| Flanges | Ø14–Ø2000 mm | ASME 1/2–60″ (Ø15–Ø1524 mm). PN 6–400. Not a stock statement. |
Parts of the range are held by European partners; other dimensions can be sourced. The range is not a current stock status in every diameter — stock is confirmed on enquiry.
Frequently asked questions
- What is P355GH?
- P355GH / 1.0473 is a non-alloy pressure vessel steel to EN 10028-2. Boiler plate – not structural steel.
- Is P355GH the same as P355NH?
- No. GH is EN 10028-2. NH is EN 10028-3, normalised. Same 355 figure, different certificate.
- Is P355GH the same as S355?
- No. S355 is structural steel. P355GH is a pressure vessel steel to EN 10028-2 with its own certificate and PED route – the 355 is a yield strength class, not the same purchase.
- In which delivery condition is P355GH supplied?
- To EN 10028-2, +N or +NT according to the certificate. The condition is what the mill has certified – state it on the enquiry if the drawing requires a specific one.
- Does InduSeal use P355GH?
- Yes. InduSeal is a product cut from P355GH. The grade page is here; the product is under InduSeal.
- Can you supply P355GH plate cut to size?
- Yes. State thickness, format and the certificate required, and we cut the plate to size and ship it with EN 10204 3.1.
