Martensitic stainless steel
1.4024 stainless steel
1.4024 (X15Cr13) is the soft step in the 13 % Cr range — less carbon than 420, and the hardening response is correspondingly lower.

What it is used for
Blades, cutting edges and stainless parts that need to be hardenable without becoming brittle.
Limits
420 / 1.4021 and 1.4028 when hardness needs to be higher. 410 when the part is not hardened.
Delivery
We source 1.4024 from European mill partners as round bar, flat bar, plate, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: annealed or hardened. Standard: X15Cr13. Plate is cut by laser, plasma or oxy-fuel to drawing. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
1.4024 can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. On stainless, the analysis and the delivery condition are what the certificate shows. If a specific test or an ageing/hardening condition is to be documented, it must be specified before we order. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.
Dimension programme
| Form | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Round bar | To order | Annealed or hardened. State Ø and length, and whether the bar must be bright. |
| Flat bar | Cut to order | Flat for blades and cutting edges. |
| Plate | To order | Cold rolled in 2B finish to DIN EN ISO 9445. State thickness and finish — we cut blanks by laser, plasma or oxy-fuel to drawing. |
The range is a delivery programme, not a stock statement. Length is cut to your drawing.
