Alloy quenched and tempered steel
50CrMo4 / 1.7228 alloy engineering steel
50CrMo4 is chromium-molybdenum steel with higher carbon than 42CrMo4. More wear resistance, less toughness.

What it is used for
Wear-exposed shafts and machine parts requiring hardening where 42CrMo4 is too soft.
Limits
42CrMo4 when toughness weighs heavier. 100Cr6 when it is really a bearing part.
Delivery
We source 50CrMo4 from European mill partners as round bar, flat bar, square bar, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: +QT. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
50CrMo4 can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. The condition is what the certificate has to carry on 50CrMo4: as-rolled, +N and +QT are not the same product, and if a hardness or strength is to be documented in the delivered dimension, the requirement belongs on the enquiry. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.
Dimension programme
| Form | Range | Note |
