36CrNiMo4 (1.6511) is Ni-Cr-Mo quenched and tempered steel. Close to AISI 4340. Hardenability between 42CrMo4 and 34CrNiMo6.

What it is used for
Shafts and machine parts where the drawing says 36CrNiMo4 or 4340.
Limits
42CrMo4 in moderate diameters. 34CrNiMo6 when the core must hold in heavier material.
Delivery
We source 36CrNiMo4 from European mill partners as round bar, flat bar, square bar, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: +QT. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
36CrNiMo4 can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. The condition is what the certificate has to carry on 36CrNiMo4: as-rolled, +N and +QT are not the same product, and if a hardness or strength is to be documented in the delivered dimension, the requirement belongs on the enquiry. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.
