What it is used for
Cutting edges, knives and wear parts where corrosion resistance has to keep pace with hardness.
Limits
440B and 440C when hardness needs to be higher. 1.4116 when it is knife steel in plate and strip.
Delivery
We source 440A from European mill partners as round bar, flat bar, plate, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: annealed or hardened. Standard: X70CrMo15. Plate is cut by laser, plasma or oxy-fuel to drawing. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
440A can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. On stainless, the analysis and the delivery condition are what the certificate shows. If a specific test or an ageing/hardening condition is to be documented, it must be specified before we order. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.
