1.3974 is a nitrogen- and manganese-strengthened austenite (F49). Even higher N and Mn than XM-19 — the strength lies in the solution annealed condition.

What it is used for
Heavy stainless shafts and bolts where XM-19 is still on the low side.
Limits
XM-19 / 1.3964 covers most Nitronic-type jobs. 17-4PH when ageing is the route.
Delivery
We source 1.3974 from European mill partners as round bar, plate, flat bar, seamless tube, welded tube, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: solution annealed. Standard: X2CrNiMnMoNNb23-17-6-3. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
1.3974 can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. On stainless, the analysis and the delivery condition are what the certificate shows. If a specific test or an ageing/hardening condition is to be documented, it must be specified before we order. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.
