Precipitation-hardening stainless steel
17-7PH / 1.4568 stainless steel
17-7PH (1.4568) is precipitation-hardening stainless steel in the spring class. The grade is formed in the annealed condition and gains its strength from a subsequent heat treatment — which is why it appears on drawings where a spring must both hold its shape and withstand corrosion.

What it is used for
Stainless springs, diaphragms and clamping bands where the drawing specifies a precipitation-hardened grade.
Limits
The condition must be stated on the enquiry — annealed and precipitation-hardened are not the same product. 17-4PH when it is a machine part and not a spring.
Delivery
We source 17-7PH from European mill partners as round bar, flat bar, plate, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: solution annealed or precipitation hardened. Standard: X7CrNiAl17-7. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
17-7PH can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. On stainless, the analysis and the delivery condition are what the certificate shows. If a specific test or an ageing/hardening condition is to be documented, it must be specified before we order. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.
Dimension programme
| Form | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Round bar | Ø8–200 mm | Solution annealed unless otherwise stated on the PO. |

The range is a delivery programme, not a stock statement. Length is cut to your drawing.
