Non-alloy case-hardening steel
C15R / 1.1140 non-alloy structural steel
C15R (1.1140) is C15 with raised sulphur for machining. Same case-hardening family as C15E — R is the machinability, not a different process.

What it is used for
Bright and turned case-hardening parts where the S addition is specified.
Limits
C15E when sulphur must be kept down. C15 when the drawing does not distinguish.
Delivery
We source C15R from European mill partners as round bar, flat bar, square bar, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: +A / +FP. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
C15R can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. The certificate documents the analysis and the delivery condition — not the finished case hardening, since case and core hardness only arise at the heat treater. If the hardening result is to be documented, that is a separate agreement. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.
Dimension programme
| Form | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Round bar | Ø10–200 mm | Cut to length. State Ø and condition. |
| Flat bar | Cut to order | State cross-section. |
| Square bar | Cut to order | State side length. |
The range is a delivery programme, not a stock statement. Length is cut to your drawing.
