Non-alloy case-hardening steel
C15 / 1.0401 non-alloy structural steel
C15 is non-alloy case-hardening steel to EN 10084, W.Nr. 1.0401. Low carbon, so the core stays tough while the case can be carburised and hardened.

What it is used for
Small gears, pins and wear surfaces where alloyed 16MnCr5 is more than the job requires.
Limits
16MnCr5 when the section or case depth grows. C45 if the part is to be through-hardened — that is a different process.
Delivery
We source C15 from European mill partners as round bar, flat bar, square bar, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: +A / +FP. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
C15 can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. The certificate documents the analysis and the delivery condition — not the finished case hardening, since case and core hardness only arise at the heat treater. If the hardening result is to be documented, that is a separate agreement. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.

The range is a delivery programme, not a stock statement. Length is cut to your drawing.
