303 / 1.4305 is a free-machining stainless steel. Sulphur gives better machinability than 304 — and poorer corrosion resistance and weldability.

What it is used for
Turned stainless small parts in series.
Limits
304/304L when welding is involved or the corrosion requirement is strict.
Delivery
We source 303 from European mill partners as round bar, plate, flat bar, seamless tube, welded tube, cut to your dimensions and ship the certificate with the material. Typical condition: solution annealed. Standard: X8CrNiS18-9. From a single cut piece to larger lots — with no minimum charge, so you do not have to buy a full commercial length to get what you need.
Certificates and documentation
303 can be supplied with a material certificate to EN 10204, depending on producer, dimension and the requirements specified for the delivery. On stainless, the analysis and the delivery condition are what the certificate shows. If a specific test or an ageing/hardening condition is to be documented, it must be specified before we order. EN 10204 3.1 can be supplied on a wide range of our materials.
