Structural steel
Non-alloy structural steel
Carbon is the alloying element. S355 is welded. C45 and C60 are hardened in small cross-sections. +AR, +N and forged to EN 10250 are conditions of the same grade – not three different steels.

Frequently asked questions
- Why is S355J2 listed only once when the drawing says +AR, +N or forged?
- It is the same grade. +AR is rolled. +N is normalised. EN 10250 is the forged bar. We supply the condition the drawing requires.
- What is the difference between C45E/R and C45 +N forged?
- C45E/R is rolled carbon steel to EN 10083. C45 +N to EN 10250 is forged and normalised. The chemistry is the same family. The condition and the cross-section are what change the part.
- EN 10025, EN 10083 or EN 10084?
- EN 10025 is weldable structural steel (S355). EN 10083 is quenching and tempering (C35, C45, C60). EN 10084 is case hardening (C15). Do not mix them on the same specification.
